Dr Carola Schönlieb gives an insight into some of the mathematics behind image analysis and its wide-ranging applications in fields ranging from developing cancer therapies to restoring artworks, together with some personal reflections on her own career journey through mathematical study and research.

Dr Carola Schönlieb is Reader in Applied and Computational Analysis and Head of Cambridge Image Analysis Group at the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics, University of Cambridge. This talk was originally given to an audience of Y12 girls (aged 16-17) at an event for students considering applying to university to study mathematics. It was recorded on 18 April 2016.
