Get creative with the 2015 NRICH and Plus Advent calendars!
Our annual NRICH and Plus mathematical advent calendars are published on 1st December, and this year we're inviting you to explore your mathematical creativity. Mathematics is a creative subject. It involves spotting patterns, making connections, finding new ways of looking at things and using what you already know in new contexts. Creative mathematicians play around with examples, draw pictures, have the courage to experiment and ask good questions. NRICH has published two online Advent calendars, one for primary students (ages 5 to 11) and one for secondary. This year both calendars contain an assortment of activities which offer opportunities to explore and develop your creative mathematical thinking. The NRICH Primary Advent Calendar collects some favourite games and activities from the NRICH archive. Meanwhile the NRICH Secondary Calendar doors open directly onto our new Wild Maths site - a collection of resources and activities designed to encourage mathematical creativity, aimed at individual students aged 7-16. Plus, our free online mathematics magazine, has also published an Advent calendar featuring resources linked to the Wild Maths site. Open the doors of the Plus Advent calendar to discover intriguing, thought provoking mathematical questions, videos and articles to explore.
