Saturday 22 March Cambridge Science Festival Maths Events

Don't miss our free events for the Cambridge Science Festival on Saturday 22 March 2014! Join MMP staff and volunteer Cambridge student helpers at the Centre for Mathematical Sciences for a Hands-On Maths Fair between 11.30am and 4pm. Famously, G.H. Hardy described mathematicians, like poets and painters, as makers of patterns, and mathematics as a creative art. Find out what patterns you can discover, and explore your creative thinking and critical reasoning, with hands-on activities, games and problem-solving challenges for all ages from 5 to adult. There will be a range of different activities suitable for younger and older children (and grown-ups!). No booking is needed - drop in any time between 11.30am - 4pm. Also in the Centre for Mathematical Sciences, at 12 noon join Dr Vicky Neale as she gives a free public talk on '7 Things You Need to Know About Prime Numbers' (no booking required; suggested age range 15+). The Maths Cafe will be open throughout the day, serving tea and coffee, soft drinks, snacks and sandwiches, to refresh weary parents and fuel excited participants. Some free parking will be available on-site in the Centre for Mathematical Sciences' car park on Wilberforce Road (accessible via Madingley Road) on a first-come, first-served basis.
