STIMULUS - Cambridge student volunteers help with Maths and Science teaching in local schools
STIMULUS is a community service programme which gives Cambridge University students the opportunity to work with pupils in local schools, helping with Maths, Science, ICT or Technology lessons. STIMULUS students work as volunteer Teaching Assistants in the classroom, alongside the class teacher.
In the current 2009/10 academic year STIMULUS has created over 237 placements for 178 University of Cambridge students (107 placements were filled in the Autumn term and 130 in the Spring Term, with more than 30 students continuing placements by special request in the Summer term too) in 22 primary and secondary schools, 2 sixth-form colleges, one special school and Cambridge United Football Club’s education programme. All placements were located within the city of Cambridge and nearby villages.
