Plus has been working with the Stephen Hawking Centre for Theoretical Cosmology on a major documentary series for Discovery+. In over 20 short episodes the Universe Unravelled series explores what we already know about the Universe, what cosmologists are working on right now, and what they hope to find out in the future.

Science Festival from your sofa!

Sadly, due to COVID-19 the Cambridge Science Festival has been cancelled and our Hands-On Maths Fair scheduled for Saturday 21 March 2020 will not take place. However, you can still explore many of our family maths activities and games at home through our NRICH and Wild Maths websites.

NRICH and Tower Hamlets teachers inspiring problem solvers of the future

For the 4th year running, NRICH is working in collaboration with the Tower Hamlets Education Partnership to support schools, teachers and pupils in the borough. 

Over the course of the 2019/20 academic year, NRICH staff are leading a series of linked face-to-face professional development days for primary teachers from schools in Tower Hamlets, exploring effective ways of developing problem-solving, reasoning and fluency - the key aims of the primary curriculum - in their classrooms.

Helping university applicants to reach their potential

Every UK state school student holding a conditional offer to study Mathematics at the University of Cambridge was invited to join us in March 2019 for an intensive full-day event to help prepare for the STEP exam. STEP is an additional mathematics examination which forms part of conditional offers to applicants for mathematics, and some related degrees, at Cambridge and a number of other universities.

Counting down to Christmas with our mathematical Advent calendars!

Our annual NRICH and Plus mathematical Advent calendars are back for 2018! NRICH has published two free online Advent calendars, one for primary students (ages 5 to 11) and one for secondary students (ages 11-18). Both are filled with 24 mathematical activities, problems, and games, one for every day in the run up to Christmas.

New NRICH Statistics resources for GCSE and A-level

We have launched a new set of free online mathematics education resources introducing key concepts in statistics for GCSE and A-level, published on our NRICH website. Statistics content in the mathematics curriculum has increased at both GCSE and A-level, and statistics is now both a core component of the Mathematics A-level and an essential component of A-levels in other subjects too.

Encouraging students to consider Further Mathematics A-level

NRICH has published a new module of free online resources, designed to encourage GCSE students to consider taking Further Mathematics at A-level by giving a taste of one of the mathematical topics they will explore. The resources introduce students to complex numbers, and were produced in collaboration with colleagues from the Universities of Cambridge, Oxford, Bath and Imperial College.
