STEP Support Programme

International Student Who Wants to do STEP

I am not from the UK, but studying Maths at Cambridge seems appealing to me, because I love Mathematics, so I am considering doing STEP.
The problem is, in my country we follow a different syllabus to the UK, so I have not learned some of the A Level/Further Maths content necessary to do STEP (e.g. in my country we do little to no mechanics). I was recently doing the STEP I Foundation Modules, and in the last 3 (the sample Mechanics, Statistics, and Pure STEP I Questions) I realised that I have not done enough Mechanics or Statistics to do these modules, so I just skipped these and went straight to STEP II modules.

Is there any way for me to sit an 'alternate' STEP exam which is catered to the Maths curriculum from my country? Or will I have to selflearn all the Mechanics and Statistics content? I would not mind self learning the Mechanics and Statistics work if I had to, it's just that it would take a lot of time, especially since we do almost no mechanics in Maths in my country (we do some in Physics, but in Physics it is a lot more qualitative than quantitative).

I am new to the entire STEP program, so I sincerely apologise if I sound ignorant.

Sorry, typo:
' I was recently doing the STEP I Foundation Modules, and in the last 3 (the sample Mechanics, Statistics, and Pure STEP I Questions) I realised that I have not done enough Mechanics or Statistics to do these modules, so I just skipped these and went straight to STEP II modules.'

I meant that I did the Pure Step I only and skipped the Mechanics and Statistics STEP I modules.

There are no "alternative" STEP exams, however you only attempt 6 questions out of 13. Most people (even if they have studied Mechanics and/or Statistics) end up doing 6 pure questions and the exams try and ensure that there is some choice to reflect the different modules/courses students have taken.

However, if you want to study maths at Cambridge it will probably be a good idea for you to learn some of the Mechanics work (the Statistics is not so important for starting a Cambridge Maths course). In the STEP II and STEP III modules there are some Mechanics "topic notes" which may be helpful.
