Need some advice

15 December 2016

Hello all,

I'm currently in lower sixth and I'd really like to study mathematics at Cambridge! I've found out that in order to study mathematics at Cambridge, I need to sit the STEP examinations. I've looked over a few papers and read some articles; I've read that you need to need a deep understanding in order to succeed at these examinations.

Which STEP Questions are in the Assignments

15 December 2016

I'm trying to keep track of which STEP questions I have and haven't done. As such, I'd really like to write down which ones are in the assignments, but I don't know of any way to do so other than to look them up paper by paper. Does anyone know which ones were used, or if there's an easier way? Thanks!

Meet the mentors!

12 December 2016

You may have noticed that we have some new mentors replying to your posts on the forum. This thread is so that the mentors can introduce themselves so you know which stage of their studies they are at and perhaps a little about their mathematical interests.

To get the ball rolling, I am one of the staff members for the STEP Support Project. I did do STEP but it was rather a long time ago now...
I chose my username in honour of Sophie Germain, a French mathematician who lived from 1776 to 1831, whose birthday I share!

Misstake in solutions for assignment 13 Q3 (ii)?

7 December 2016

In the solutions file it says that the equation y = x^4 - 6x^2 + 8x + b has one root when b=1. Shouldn't be b=24 because that the turning point is in (-2, -24) for y=x^4 - 6x^2 + 8x?

Please give us your feedback!

6 December 2016

We hope that you're finding the assignment modules useful. Please could we ask for your feedback to help us develop and improve the support we offer?

We'd be very grateful if you could fill in this short feedback form to tell us how helpful you've found the STEP Support Programme so far, and whether you have any suggestions for improvements.

The form will only take a couple of minutes to complete.

Thank you!
