Besides Cambridge, there are several other universities who recommend STEP, or will give you a reduced offer if you take STEP.
These include:
Warwick (A*A*A* without STEP, A*A*A with grade 1 in any STEP paper)
Imperial (require STEP if you missed the MAT deadline, or if you had a borderline MAT result)
KIng's College London (require STEP or AEA if you are doing AS Further Maths - rather than the full A-level)
UCL (A*A*A without STEP, A*AA with STEP grade 1 or distinction in AEA)
Bath (recommend, and will give alternate offers if STEP is offered)
Lancaster (AAA without Further Maths or STEP, drops to ABB if a grade 3 in STEP and Further Maths)
Bristol (reduced offer with STEP)
If anyone finds any others can you post them in a reply to this post?
Southampton
From their website "For 2018 entry our standard offer is A*AA or equivalent including grade A or A* in A-level Mathematics or; AAAA or equivalent including grade A in Mathematics; AAA or equivalent including grade A in Mathematics with additional qualifications such as STEP/MAT/TMUA/A grade in EPQ. "
Durham
From their website: "grades A*A* in Mathematics and Further Mathematics at A-level or equivalent, together with grade A in a third A-level or equivalent. Alternatively, 1 in any STEP in addition to grades A* and A in Mathematics and Further Mathematics at A-level or equivalent (A* for either) together with grade A in a third A-level or equivalent"
Non-Maths degrees at Cambridge
Just to add, some colleges have started asking for a 1 (or possibly a 2) in STEP I for Engineering and Computer science (i.e. straight Computer Science, not Maths and Comp Sci).
Christ's and Peterhouse seem to be the main ones asking for this, put please make sure that you check the college website as well as the university subject site!
